We take the same approach to compliance as we do to managing safety it is pro-active, hands on and strives for continuous improvement.
We believe compliance management systems should be dynamic and reflect and support the changing needs of the business. In this respect we implement rigorous internal audit, review and monitoring schedules which support our desire to achieve the highest standards of operational delivery, safety and performance.
Our SQE team are extremely experienced in maintaining compliance with the rigorous standards of the industries that we work in and are lead auditor trained. They work autonomously from the delivery teams and implement comprehensive internal due diligence strategies.
We openly welcome third party audit as we embrace it as an opportunity to share best practice and to strive for continuous improvement.
We are rated as a Five star supplier under the new RISQS protocol which is the highest standard achievable.
As a leading supplier in our market place we recognise how our operating activities can impact on society, the environment and the economy. We understand that a business that damages the societal, economic and environmental systems on which it depends will ultimately be unsustainable.
In this respect we have developed a sustainability strategy which aligns the needs of our clients with our business values and purpose and is underpinned by a commitment to incorporate responsible and ethical principals in all our activities.
We have clear governance structures and visible leadership in order to fully integrate corporate responsibility throughout the company and extend it into our supply chain. Our sustainability strategy is based on the following key principals:
We will strive to recruit and retain workers from all backgrounds and demographics. We will value them, we will engage with them, we will keep them safe and we will develop them to their best potential. We are dedicated to equality and will not tolerate harassment or discrimination on any grounds. We will share our core values with them and encourage them to embrace them and incorporate them into their daily activities.
We will carry out our business in a professional and ethical way at all times and continually challenge our working practices and safety performance to strive for improvement. We will create trusted and viable partnerships with our clients and suppliers and provide a quality service which adds value to all and enhances economic stability.
We will actively seek to achieve harmony between the environment and our corporate activities by promoting sound environmental management principles throughout the organisation and by providing the resources and expertise to make this a practical reality.
We will comply with all environmental legislation, regulation and codes of practice, and specific rail industry requirements as relevant to our business activities. We set, monitor and continually challenge our environmental objectives and targets to ensure improvement of our performance.
We operate across the infrastructure, from many regional depots. We will value the communities in which we work and we will support them in any way we can through local recruitment, local supply agreements, donations, sponsorship, volunteering, fundraising and other charitable work.
We recognise our corporate responsibility to undertake our business activities in a manner which not only promotes the protection of the environment but also pro-actively strives to improve environmental impacts on future generations.
As a business we understand that environmental sustainability is a core corporate principle and in this respect our business operates within the requirements of 14001 the processes for which are underpinned by our company Environmental Policy. Our success in meeting the objectives of our policy are regularly monitored and measures through the implementation of key performance indicators which are focused on achieving continuous improvement.
The key focus of our commitment outlined by our policy is the promotion of energy and materials conservation and waste reduction. This commitment has not only been communicated within the organisation but also throughout our supply chain.
As a rapidly growing and expanding organisation we will continue to strive for sustainable growth by sharing best practice with our clients and suppliers and encouraging our workforce to actively support our sustainability ethos, targets and objectives.
As an organisation we have a total commitment towards the health and safety of our workforce. We understand that they are our major asset and that we owe them a duty of care to ensure they are safe every day they go out to work for us. This statement is underpinned by our Health and Safety policy (Link to Policy) and supported by a comprehensive safety and risk management system that targets zero accidents.
The effective day to day implementation of our health and safety processes are monitored and measured through a set of core key performance indicators which introduce management accountability and drive the achievement of continuous safety performance.
We understand that in order to achieve a maturing safety culture the board of directors and senior managers must lead by example and actively demonstrate their own commitment to health and safety. In this respect all of our directors and senior managers have attended a programme of behavioral based safety training in order to drive forward excellence in safety management and leadership.
We work closely with all partners in the supply chain to achieve joint safety targets and objectives. We develop honest and open relationships where lessons learnt and best practice are candidly shared. We actively encourage the implementation of joint safety tours and the attendance at client and peer group safety forums.
We operate a confidential close call reporting procedure which encourages all workers to report close calls. This is actively promoted throughout the workforce as the understanding and analysis of close calls is key to accident and incident prevention.
We ensure that all our workers understand their own responsibilities towards their health and safety in the workplace through robust internal safety training. This is supported by our work safe procedure which allows workers to refuse to undertake activities they believe to be unsafe without fear of recrimination.
Safety First is our publication which ensures that all our workers are regularly informed of changes within the industry, the correct implementation of safe working practices and issues that may affect their health and safety. It also shares health and safety information provided to us by our colleagues in the supply chain.
