We have been proud to support Solutions for the Planet Big Ideas Programme this year and would like to offer our congratulations to the Big Ideas Competition 2021 National Final Winners, Waste Warriors from North Durham Academy and runners up Planet Helpers from Heath Park School and W.A.S.P. from Colton Hills Community School.
Jen Baughan Solutions for the Planet CEO said “The Big Ideas Programme has big ambitions. We forge partnerships between businesses and schools. We encourage and nurture creativity, curiosity and collaboration in young people and their business volunteer mentors alike. We challenge young people to come up with Big Ideas to help tackle some of the world’s largest sustainability issues and adults to suspend their preconceived notions of what is possible. We blend community and business benefit, and everyone involved knows they are part of something bigger than themselves. The Big Ideas Competition 2021 National Final on Wednesday 23rd June was an incredible showcase of these ambitions being realised. Continued engagement and investment from businesses in this agenda is critical, that agenda being their people (and future people) and the planet. That’s our agenda and if it’s high on yours then get in touch with Solutions for the Planet. My deepest thanks go to our current business partners for making that investment this year.”
One of our volunteer mentors Paul Ellis commented “I was extremely proud to represent ISS Labour as a mentor on Solutions for the Planet’s Big Ideas Programme and support the youth of today who are the future of tomorrow, articulating their passion for saving “OUR” planet with their various projects. This gives me great hope that there will be a future, not only for my own grandchildren but their children and grandchildren allowing them all to enjoy the lifestyle that we have become accustomed to and taken for granted.”
