ISS Labour OLE Division support platform extension works at Wigan North Western Station

Wigan North Western Station is set to undergo a multi-million-pound platform extension to provide passengers between Manchester and Leeds with longer trains.

As part of these works our OLE Project team have successfully completed the OLE de-wirement works on the Platform 2 to allow Platform 3 to be extended for our client – Buckingham Group.

Our OLE installation teams led by our OLE CRE (Phil Axon) and supported by our OLE Construction Manager (George Bota) de-wired Platform 2, installed bottom span wires and cut in new insulation for Platform 3 . All site documentation and ITP sheets were completed ready for handback, COVID-19 social distancing guidelines adhered too and all works completed on time with zero incidents or accidents resulting in the railway being opened on time.

As part of our package we supplied MEWP’s, Machine Controllers, OLEC3 linesmen, Engineers, POS Services & rep, on site plant fitter and all materials and equipment.

Colin Kelly (Managing Director – OLE and S&T) commented, “a fantastic team effort by our OLE Project team to deliver these works over two weekends and meet our client’s expectations on this high-profile site, a special thanks to our MEWP partner TXM and encouraging to see TXM developing women in rail MEWP operators”.
