Solutions for the Planet Big Ideas Regional Finals – Hope in Action

We are pleased to continue to support the Solutions for the Planet Big Ideas Programme and are proud to have been asked to take part in judging the regional finals which have been taking place this week. The Big Ideas Programme is a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths) initiative which encourages creative thinking and teamwork and develops STEM and wider employability skills. It also gives young people a voice in the dialogue around sustainability, linking their ideas to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

We have been amazed at the high standard of the projects we have judged and there has clearly been a great deal of effort put into the Powerpoint presentations, business plans and supporting documents that have been presented for judging. It is clear, that the pupils aged 11 to 14 have real concerns about the impact we our having on our planet and how this may affect their futures with polluted oceans, deforestation, carbon emissions, global warming and endangered species featuring in many of their Big Ideas solutions. Their messages have been passionately voiced, eloquently expressed with a clear focus that we must take action now!

This engagement with young people through the programme has made us as a business more determined than ever that we will do everything we can to leave a positive legacy through our daily activities and strive for a greener future for us all.
