We are proud to partner with Solutions for the Planet whose vision is to support a “generation of young people to respond to 21st century sustainability challenges”. They aim to do this by inspiring new ways of thinking by building partnerships between business and schools as they understand this mix of knowledge, skills and passion has the potential to shape a more sustainable future.
We are currently supporting their Big Ideas Programme which is a STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) and enterprise programme with a focus on sustainability issues that matter to young people. Delivered in secondary schools across the UK, the programme brings together business volunteers and pupils to identify sustainability issues and provide practical solutions. The programme harnesses creativity encourages teamwork and helps to develop wider employability skills.
We have provided mentors from within our business to support the programme which culminates in the submission of projects for regional and subsequently national finals. One of our mentors Brian Madden said “I’m delighted to be involved as a mentor for the Big Ideas 2021 programme run by Solutions for the Planet. It is an important and exciting challenge for the groups involved and I hope to bring some value and help in any way I can. I look forward to seeing the groups which make it to the Final, and the winning submission. Hopefully, all of the participants and mentors will find inspiration for ways we can lead more sustainable and environmentally-friendly lives.”
Judging commences on 10th May 2021 and we are thrilled to have been invited to take part in this process.
